Topic:  “Choosing Resilience”

How to overcome physical and emotional challenges will be explored at Lifetree Café. The program features a screening of the inspiring true story of Staff Sgt. Travis Mills who lost both his arms and legs as a result of an IED explosion in Afghanistan.

“I was told by my occupational and physical therapists that they were there to help, but whatever I put in was what I would get out. The sympathy card wasn’t ever played, and I think that was key for my recovery,” said Mills.  The film shows an intimate look at the daily inner and outer struggles of wounded veterans and the difficult rehabilitation processes they face. Participants will be challenged to look at the ways they deal with their own personal trials and will find encouragement and hope from Mills’ story.
